Plasma Rich Protein – harnessing the body’s own healing ability to repair & rejuvenate your own skin. It has been used in medicine for several years to help accelerate healing of injured tendons, ligaments and scars.

What can you expect when you have PRP stem cell therapy?

Before offering this facial rejuvenation treatment to my clients I wanted to have the treatment myself so I could explain to you what to expect. I found the experience so interesting; it was fascinating to see the plasma after my vial of blood was slung in the centrifuge.

My face was cleansed and marked up – I wanted to target specific areas that had obvious pigmentation and rosacea. I had the forehead, cheek, neck and a hand injected. The injection placement is superficial causing a small bleb (mound) on the skin. It wasn’t particularly painful, just scratchy in parts. Skin was cleansed after with remaining plasma and my skin felt amazing!

It was glowing and there felt a tightness. Immediately after there was some minimal redness and flushing which lasted momentarily by which I was pleasantly surprised as I thought there would be more downtime. To find out more or book in for a free consultation please give me a call on 07590051635.

What you need to know

What is PRP?

Used for many years in the treatment of sports injuries, wound healing and joint pain PRP has become a favoured natural treatment in skin rejuvenation. PRP stem cell therapy works by stimulating your body’s natural collagen and elastin, using the healthy growth factors found in your own blood. are essential for stimulating collagen elastin and for healing. By drawing on your own concentrated growth factors, which are essential for stimulating collagen elastin and for healing, it makes it a very safe option for reinvigorating the skin.

The platlet rich plasma is the cleanest by product from our blood, with anti inflammatory properties it wakens our stem cells, repairing our fine lines and wrinkles, helping to reverse our ageing skin, which in turn brightens the complexion!

How Does PRP Work?

PRP therapy is a treatment which uses your own blood platelets to stimulate new cell growth, helping to improve your complexion, skin texture and to restore lost facial volume aswell as treat hair loss. Your blood is essentially made up of four components; red blood cells, white blood cells, the plasma and the platelets. We take your blood and spin it in a centrifuge, which enables the separation of the blood cells from your plasma and platelets. This is then re-injected into the skin to stimulate collagen and new skin cells.  PRP harnesses the beneficial functions of the patients own platelets and therefore there is no risk of allergy or rejection of the treatment. The activation of the concentrated platelets in platelet-rich plasma releases growth factors that stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells your body produces. This significantly enhances the body’s natural healing process.

What happens During The Treatment?

Prior to the treatment a one to one Consultation is completed.

Firstly, a topical anaesthetic is applied to the area that will be treated. Our clinician will draw a small sample of blood. This is then spun in a centrifuge for approximately five minutes to separate the plasma from the other blood particles. Lastly, the platelet rich plasma is then re-injected back into the treatment area, stimulating collagen and elastin production.

PRP can also be successfully used to treat thinning hair and hair loss particularly male pattern baldness. It is important to start treatment early on and whether you are a suitable candidate will be determined during your consultation.

What should I expect post treatment?

Most people will experience some mild to moderate swelling in the area of treatment, redness or heat, which are all common side effects and are part of the activation of your platelets. Because a volume of fluid has to be administered, swelling is inevitable. Bruising can occur and may take several days to disappear.

How Many Treatments Would I Require?

PRP protocol for skin is 1 session per month for 3 months.

How soon will I see results?

Typically results are seen at around 6-8 weeks, sometimes sooner.

The first thing people notice is an improvement in skin turgor and elasticity. Collagen production can take up to three months to occur and the results can differ depending on the individual.  Because the injected product is 100% your own, factors such as smoking, stress and illness can effect results.  A series of three treatments can yield results for up to two years.

PRP for hair loss

PRP therapy works by injecting the patient’s own concentrated platelet-rich plasma into the hair follicles, which stimulates and reactivates dormant or weakened hair follicles to produce thicker and healthier hair.

The process begins with a simple blood draw from the patient’s arm; this is then placed in a centrifuge machine which separates the red blood cells from the plasma. The PRP is then injected into the scalp using a very fine needle, allowing the platelets to be delivered directly and efficiently to where they are needed.

Thanks to this process, hair follicles are nourished and stimulated in the scalp, resulting in an increase in blood flow to the area.
