Prior to the treatment a one to one Consultation is completed. During the consultation it is an opportunity to establish a management plan and identify if the treatment is appropriate given your medical history, skin presentation and realistic expectations. You will be given comprehensive information about the treatment and the procedure, potential side effects, with pre and post treatment advice. Following this you will be given time to decide if you would like to proceed with the treatment. Consent for the treatment and photos will be taken.

The treatment of Profhilo consists of 2 sessions one month apart. At each session 2ml of Profhilo is injected into the mid and lower face using a technique called BAP (BIO AESTHETIC POINTS), the BAP technique is 5 entry points of injection for each side of the face.

The substance disperses quickly across the skin, this in turn nourishes dermal cells. It helps to:

• Increase and restore skin firmness and elasticity
• Tighten and lift the skin
• Improve skin tone and texture
• Significantly improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
• Restoring Rehydration and radiance of the skin.

Profhilo can also be used in the neck, décolletage, upper arms and hands. It is suitable for men and women, from the age of 30 years old, with no upper age limit.

Hyaluronic acid is very well tolerated by the skin. The only reported side effects are bruising and mild swelling at the injection sites, which will settle within a very short period of time. This may be related with the action of needle to skin rather than the product itself. If the area is red and raised at the injection site this will subside within 4 hours, there may also be some itching and tenderness at the treated area, but this will settle down very quickly and should not be visible after 24hours. 

For the best results 2 treatments of Profhilo are recommended. 2ml in the initial session and a further 2ml, 4 weeks later. The best outcomes of the treatment will be visible 4 weeks after the second treatment. Top ups and maintenance treatments can be recommended depending on your response to the treatment.  

After a course of Profhilo, involving 2 injectable treatments 4 weeks apart, you can expect to see an intense hydration. It makes tired, dull skin glow and fine lines disappear. You’ll notice smoother, tighter skin. Even for those with very wrinkled skin, an improvement in the texture and tone is undeniable. The treatment can be repeated six months later.

Following a Profhilo treatment there is minimal downtime and you can continue with light activities. It is best to avoid exercise, sport and alcohol for 24hours following the treatment. It is also recommended to avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming or hot baths for a few days following the treatment. Avoid the sun for the first few days following the treatment and always wear a high skin factor 50+.

It is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or allergic to Hyaluronic acid.

Due to the way Profhilo is formulated it is not a volumizing treatment in the same way that dermal fillers are and is not used to enhance specific areas of the face eg. Cheeks, lips, jaw, chin. Profhilo is primarily a hydrating treatment and the hyaluronic acid it contains is dispersed evenly throughout the face giving your skin a more plump, firm and natural look overall.
